MERCEDES BENZ • Website & App
Website and App Design for Mercedes-Benz (North America)
Connected Car • Mercedes Me App
PROJECT SUMMARY:
These screens showcase enhancements developed for the Mercedes Me Companion App, tailored to North American models from 2019 or newer. The app connects the user's smartphone to their vehicle, enabling remote access to information like mileage and battery charge, as well as commands such as pre-heating, locking or unlocking, and locating the car.
MY ROLE:
I was responsible for improving the overall UI design and collaborating on UX solutions. I worked closely with developers, a UX lead, an ACD/content designer, and key stakeholders at Mercedes-Benz.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
User engagement with service promotions and upsell areas in the app was low. Many users were not interacting with promotional modules or purchasing add-on services. This indicated issues with visual hierarchy, clarity, and the effectiveness of call-to-action placement. The challenge was to redesign key promotional components to increase visibility and engagement without disrupting brand consistency.
OUTCOMES:
We introduced a seasonal visual strategy, rotating hero images quarterly to align with current promotions and drive user interaction with new services. I also proactively improved accessibility, including redesigning the Bluetooth icon to clearly show ON and OFF states and refining overall component clarity. (See icon example below)
IMPACT:
The redesigned modules led to a 35% increase in click-through rates for service-related content within the app. The updated visual system helped standardize promotional layouts and influenced future updates across the Mercedes Me experience.
